If a cake and a cookie had baby it would be the whoopie pie!  Whoopie pies are two soft cake-like halves “cookies” with a creamy layer of buttercream filling in the middle.  The whoopie halves are dense yet moist cake rather than crisp like cookies.  Cookie sandwiches with icing are not whoopie pies.  Moon pies or French macaroons, although similar at a quick glance, are not whoopies as the taste and texture are completely different. 

The classic Pennsylvania Dutch whoopie pie consists of rich chocolate cake halves with a vanilla buttercream filling rather than a marshmallow filling like the New England version.  Our whoopies are a twist on the classic Lancaster County whoopie pie.  We say a twist because our updated ingredients are all-natural, do not contain hydrogenated oils or trans-fats, and the filling is the perfect balance of flavor—not too sweet.  Our whoopie pies are handmade from scratch using the finest blend of premium locally sourced ingredients including sweet cream butter, decadent cocoa powder, and pure Madagascar vanilla.  The result is a super moist, scrumptious and always fresh whoopie pie—so good it seemed appropriate to call it gourmet.  We hope you like our whoopie pies so much you’ll cheer "Whoopie!" when you take a bite.
